Testing & Accuracy

How accurate are the tests?

Extremely. We partner only with CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited labs, the same kind that process tests for hospitals and major health systems. Our tests are validated for clinical accuracy, meaning they meet the highest federal standards for sensitivity and specificity (a fancy way of saying they’re reliable and precise). In other words, you’re getting the same scientific accuracy as a clinic, just with less fluorescent lighting.

What STIs do you test for?

Depending on which kit you order, we can test for a range of infections including Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Trichomoniasis, Syphilis, HIV, Herpes, and Hepatitis C. Some kits focus on specific risks, while others provide a full sexual health panel. We designed our options so you can test for what’s relevant to your life, no judgment, just information that empowers you to take control of your health.

How soon after exposure should I test?

Great question, and an important one. Each STI has what’s called a “window period,” which is the time between potential exposure and when it can reliably be detected in your system. Testing too soon may lead to inaccurate results. We include guidance for each infection in your kit and in your online account, but as a rule of thumb, many common STIs are detectable within 1–3 weeks after exposure. If you’re ever unsure, our clinicians can advise you on when to test and if a follow-up test is recommended.
